Wild Wind
04:01
|
|||
I kicked off my feet
Set them by my head
Folded up my legs, my arms, my chest
Left them on the mountain
Stretched out my mind
Hung it on the tree
Folded up my name and watched it go
Floatin’ down the stream
The shadow of the mountain shines and I become
A wild wind that whispers through the land
The shadow of the mountain shines and I become
A wild wind that whispers through the land
I pulled out my thoughts
Everything I knew
Laid them in meadow, tried to choose
The ones that I could lose
Then everything was gone
All that I had been
Nothing left to be or to begin
So I become the wind
The shadow of the mountain shines and I become
A wild wind that whispers through the land
The shadow of the mountain shines and I become
A wild….. wild wind
A wild….. wild wind
The shadow of the mountain shines and I become a wild wind

The Last Night
03:59
|
|||
On that night, the city woke from the same dream
Not a whisper, no one spoke, they all knew what it means
The closing of the book had come as no surprise
They’d always known the night would come when the sun would never rise
As all familiar fell away
There was a new joy filled their veins
And as they watched the moon collide…
with the atmosphere the fire burned the sky, and they sang...
ooo…
On that night, a girl wandered slowly towards the sea
As each step falls, the memory fades of what she used to be
She felt herself grow lighter as the world slowed it’s spin
She touched her toes to water and waited for the end
Then the waves turned ‘round,
and her body left the ground.
With her mind at rest
She used the last breath left in her chest to sing:
ooo…
On that night, baby, snoring soft in fathers arms
On that night, the ones we love, will hold us in the dark
On that night, the atoms in our bodies join the starts
But just before the flash that sends us back to the start, we’ll sing
ooo…

All the Creeping Things
04:25
|
|||
To all the creeping things, that creep upon the earth
rollie pollies, Salamanders living in the dirt
Today was the fourth best day of my life
I caught a praying mantis alive
I showed my moms friend what I had got
I thought he’d be amazed, he was not
I watch the spider build her web
Until I’m called inside for bed
While I slept she caught a fly
She melted it’s guts then sucked it dry,
To all the creeping things, that creep upon the earth
baby lizards, caterpillars crawling down my shirt
We don’t have fireflies where I’m from
But a swarm of gnats lit by the sun
Looks like the birth of the universe
as I fly through on my swing
Then one of you guys flies inside
My open mouth right past my smile
I cough and hack until I’m hoarse
then I finally spit up his soggy corpse… what a way to go
To all the creeping things that creep upon the earth
Rollie pollies, salamanders living in the dirt
Lady bug on my finger, stay as long as you please
I’ll do my best to hold still but I think I have to sneeze
I’ve had a tadpole since last fall,
He never did turn into a frog
But I will give him my birthday wish
So he don’t keep livin’ like a fish
And I’m so sorry Mr. Snail
for that time I put salt on your tail
You bubbled and oozed, and writhed with pain
I didn’t know what to so I squashed…. your brain
To all the creeping things that creep upon the earth
Baby lizards, Caterpillars crawling down my shirt
Today was the fourth worst day of my life,
I threw a rock at a honey hive
I tried to run, but bees are fast
I tried to hide, but bees are smart
…At least my mom let me watch TV
But she also let my brother watch TV
Which isn’t fair ‘cuase he wasn’t stung by bees!
To all the creeping things, that creep upon the earth
rolly pollies, Salamanders living in the dirt
Tiny toad on my shoulder I know you’d rather be free
But I feel myself getting older, and do enjoy your company

The Old Oak
03:37
|
|||
Part 1
The Old Oak fell today
Standing on her trunk, young hunter, asked if he could stay
Tell me all your secrets, mother of the wood
Tell me how the wind blows, the green grows, a thousand years you’ve stood
The Old Oak spoke, deep into the night she told
All that she could know, all the wisdom roots can hold
Part 2
When the old oak fell between death and birth
She’d wouldn’t tell her final word
he’ll know it well, the day he turns
The day he turns the earth
(Interlude)
Part 3
The old oak fell silent with the morning sun
Young hunter now, wise as wood, He’d never speak again
He let his feet wander, they took him to a creek
A leaf fell to the water, young hunter fell asleep
Buried by his head
A sliver of green
Awoke inside an acorn
Eager for the spring

The Deep
04:42
|
|||
Part 1:
He, Night walker
Stepped softly through the sand
By a Sea of endless black water
At the edge of a dead-gone land
He searched the dark eternal
For she who whispers in sleep
He nightwalker,
Must find her,
Daughter of the deep
Daughter of the deep
He knew not what he hoped to find
Until that moment on the shore
An echo soft in his mind
A woman's voice so pure
Come, step into the water
Leave behind this endless night
Tis’ I the ocean’s daughter
The sea is warm and bright
Part 2:
He pushed through the waves 'til he couldn't touch the floor
He swam through the dark 'til he could paddle no more
He began to sink, reaching for a hold
He thrashed and twisted as he slipped in to the cold
Her voice in his mind grew sharper, louder
He did as she told, and breathed the water
Then warm arms wrapped him, pulled him to the deep
Part 3:
Down she led him, fast though the dark
The icy water pushing through his heart
Violent shaking, flesh eroding
bones breaking, body imploding
He screamed to die, she wouldn’t hear
Stop your cries, we’re nearly there
Part 4:
At the center of the world
A million shining stars
Explosions of creation
Tearing him apart
He, was a disembodied mind
Watching his pieces reform
There at the center of time
Was a perfect creature born
Part 5:
He stirred in the shallows of a new shore
Emerged from the waves and breathed a new air
Then he, once Nightwalker, stepped softly through the sand
At the edge of a strange, bright land

Between Lives
05:05
|
|||
Verse 1:
Before I was born the angel said to me
I’m sendin' you to earth to be as bad as can be
So I grew into a man like a tree around a nail
My twisted heart of wood spilling blood across my trail
Before this life would end, the angel came again
To thank me for my wicked deeds and doin' like she said
She opened up her wings, let forth the ancient wind
To fill the sail of my ship and take me from this land
Chorus:
Now I sail through silver mist
No wrong nor right aboard my ship
Between lives, this old sea is my home
Again someday I'll wash ashore
Another man I'll play once more
Between lives, this old sea is my home
After livin' and dyin' to this old sea I return
Verse 2:
Before I was born the angel said to me
I'm sendin’ you to earth to be as good as you can be
So I grew into a man like an old mountain spring
An endless stream of kindness for everyone to drink
Before this life would end, the angel came again
To thank me for my noble deeds and doin like she said
She opened up her mouth, let forth the ancient tide
To lift my boat up from the sand and take me from this life
Chorus:
Now I sail through silver mist
No wrong nor right aboard my ship
Between lives, this old sea is my home
Again someday I'll wash ashore
Another man I'll play once more
Between lives, this old sea is my home
After livin' and dyin' to this old sea I return
To this old sea I return
